Patricia Jehlen has served as a State Representative for 15 years, and has spent the past 11 years as a State Senator. She is seeking re-election in the 2nd Middlesex District. Pat was previously a high school history teacher, and served on the Somerville School Committee for 16 years. She fought for equal marriage in Massachusetts prior to its legalization, and she officiated at some of the first same-sex marriages in the state. In recent years, she has established and served as Senate Chair on a special commission on LGBTQ aging, which recommended a series of reforms to improve care for LGBTQ older adults. Additionally, Pat sponsored legislation to streamline and expand HIV screening, allowing more members of the Commonwealth to receive testing. Pat is also an advocate for elder services, criminal justice reform, and education. We are excited to continue supporting Pat as a proven champion for LGBTQ rights.
