Virat Kohli Sets Sights on Surpassing Ricky Ponting’s World Cup Final Record

India and Australia will play the final of ICC World Cup 2023 today (19 November) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
With 711 runs and three centuries, Virat Kohli has emerged as the star player of the 2023 edition of ICC ODI World Cup. He broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record of scoring the most ODI hundreds in the semi-final against New Zealand, knocking his 50th ODI ton. Kohli currently holds the third spot in scoring the most runs in World Cup, needing only 3 more runs to surpass former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting. Ponting precedes Kohli at second place with 1743 runs while Sachin reigns the list with 2278 runs. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and Australia opening batter David Warner will also compete to obtain the next spot after Kohli. India has remained unbeaten so far and earned ten wins in a row, while Australia had a rough start but then clinched eight wins in a row.
