Robin Minz, a talented wicketkeeper-batter from Jharkhand, recently made history by securing a staggering INR 3.6 crore deal with the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auctions. Hailing from Gumla, Jahrkhand, Minz has become the first tribal cricketer from the state to land a multi-million IPL contract. The 21-year-old has been playing cricket since the age of 8, and his passion for the game was recognized and supported by his father, a retired army man.
Despite not having made his First-class debut, Minz has captained the state’s U-19 and U-25 teams. He currently showcases his skills as a wicketkeeper-batter for the Sonnet Cricket Club in Namkum. In the past, Lucknow Supergiants, Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, and Kolkata Knight Riders have all reached out to Minz for trials. He attended the trials for Delhi but did not find a buyer at the 2023 IPL auction.
Minz deeply admires the legendary MS Dhoni and considers him his idol. He is inspired by Dhoni’s wicketkeeping abilities, quick thinking, and composed demeanor.
