Dhruv Jurel: Rajasthan Royals’ Rising Star earns Debut India Call-up for England Tests



Dhruv Jurel has had a remarkable journey in the world of cricket. The 22-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, has been making waves with his impressive performances in domestic and T20 cricket. His inclusion in India’s Test squad for the first two matches against England came as a surprise to many, but it is a testament to his talent and potential.

Jurel first gained attention when he made his debut in the Indian Premier League with the Rajasthan Royals. His powerful hitting and impressive wicketkeeping skills immediately caught the eye of the cricketing world. He then went on to make his professional debut for Uttar Pradesh during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021, where he showcased his talent by scoring 23 runs in his first match against Punjab.

In first-class cricket, he has amassed 790 runs in just 15 matches, with an average of 46.47, including one century and five fifties. In List A cricket, he has scored 189 runs in 7 innings, maintaining an average of 47.25. In T20 cricket, he has accumulated 244 runs in 19 innings, with a remarkable strike rate of 137.07.

Recognizing his potential, the Rajasthan Royals scouted Dhruv before the IPL 2022 mega auction and signed him for a base price of INR 20 lakh. Although he scored 152 runs in 11 IPL innings last year, it was his remarkable strike rate of 172.72 that truly captured everyone’s attention.
