The end of Mickey Arthur’s second tenure with the Pakistan team marked significant changes within the coaching staff. Babar Azam stepped down as captain, and Arthur, Grant Bradburn, and Andrew Puttick resigned from their roles at the National Cricket Academy. The trio had previously been part of Pakistan’s coaching staff during the ODI World Cup 2023, and their decision to leave was confirmed by the PCB on January 18.
During his initial stint from 2016 to 2019, Arthur served as the head coach, leading the team to the top spot in the ICC Test team rankings and victory in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. Bradburn, a former New Zealand player, had been the fielding coach for the Pakistan team and later took on the role of Head of High-Performance Coaching at NCA. The PCB expressed its gratitude for their services and wished them well in their future endeavors.
Currently, Mohammad Hafeez holds the positions of team director and head coach, with Adam Hollioake as the batting coach, Abdul Majeed as the fielding coach, Umar Gul as the fast-bowling coach, and Saeed Ajmal as the spin-bowling coach. Morne Morkel, who had been Pakistan’s bowling coach during the ODI World Cup 2023, resigned from his position after the team’s exit from the tournament.
