Jasprit Bumrah reprimanded and handed demerit point for inappropriate physical contact with Ollie Pope during the first Test at Hyderabad. This is a Level 1 offence under the ICC code of conduct. Bumrah has also been given one demerit point as it was his first offence in a 24-month period. The incident occurred in the 81st over of England’s second innings, and Bumrah was found to have breached Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. Bumrah accepted the sanction and there was no need for a formal hearing. England defeated India by 28 runs in the series opener.
