This marked Australia’s second triumph over India in World Cup finals, with their previous win in 2003. Head’s outstanding individual performance in the tournament saw him score 329 runs at an average of 54.83, including a remarkable comeback after a finger injury. Additionally, he became the seventh player to score a century in an ODI World Cup final, following the footsteps of cricket legends such as Clive Lloyd, Viv Richards, Adam Gilchrist, and Ricky Ponting. Since his debut in 2016, Head has played a total of 42 Tests, 63 ODIs, and 20 T2OIs for the Australian team, recording six Test and five ODI hundreds in his career.
