Jay Shah to Continue as Chairman of Asian Cricket Council for Third Term

Shah became ACC president in Jan 2021, taking over from Nazmul Hassan of BCB. Jay Shah, BCCI Secretary, has been reappointed as ACC Chairman, dispelling rumors of him running for ICC chief. At 35, he is serving his third consecutive term and is the son of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Reports of him leaving ACC for ICC chairmanship in Nov 2021 are false. Shammi Silva, SLC President, proposed and received unanimous support for Shah’s extension. Shah has been the youngest administrator reappointed as ACC President and has made significant progress in promoting and developing cricket in Asia. Under his leadership, the ACC successfully organized the Asia Cup in T20 and ODI formats in 2022 and 2023, highlighting Asia’s capacity to host major cricket events.
