In their final group stage match, Rohit Sharma allowed Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Virat Kohli, and himself to bowl against Netherlands, with Rohit and Kohli taking one wicket each, and Gill and Suryakumar going wicketless. Rohit dismissed Teja Nidamanuru to end the match.
Rohit explained that the strategy was to have all players ready to bowl if needed and to share the load among the team. Indian batters had a strong performance, with Rohit and Gill scoring 61 and 51 runs respectively, and Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer both scoring over 50 runs. Shreyas Iyer achieved his first ODI World Cup century with an unbeaten 128 runs, while KL Rahul set a record for the fastest hundred for India in ODI World Cup history, scoring 102 runs in just 62 deliveries.
India is now focused on the semi-final match against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium on 15 November.
