Glenn Maxwell, who has played for various teams including Mumbai Indians, Punjab, Delhi, and now Royal Challengers Bangalore, will be entering his fourth year with the team in 2024. Maxwell rose to fame in India in 2014 during a breakthrough season in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The tournament has attracted both Indian and overseas players who see it as an opportunity for financial gain or recognition for their respective countries. International players like Kieron Pollard, Lasith Malinga, Sunil Narine, David Warner, AB de Villiers, and Chris Gayle have garnered large fan bases in India, making the IPL a global event followed by millions. Maxwell openly admits that the IPL may be the last tournament of his career, but he has no intention of leaving anytime soon. At Melbourne Airport, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to connect with exceptional players and coaches. He hopes to see more young Australian players participate in the IPL for their development. Maxwell was among the players retained by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the 2024 season, while other Australian players will be up for auction on December 19th in preparation for the next season.
