The Indian government has approved the travel of India’s Davis Cup team to Pakistan for the first time in over 60 years. This is a significant development, as it could potentially set a precedent for the Indian cricket team’s participation in the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will be hosted in Pakistan. The last bilateral visit by the Indian cricket team to Pakistan was in 2006, and since then, matches between the two teams have been limited to ICC events and the Asia Cup. The Davis Cup team’s visit to Pakistan marks a historic moment and could open the door for the Indian cricket team to play in the 2025 Champions Trophy. The decision comes after the Pakistan cricket team visited India for the 2016 T20 World Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup, while the Indian cricket team chose not to travel to Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup. The relationship between India and Pakistan continues to shape the anticipation surrounding this impending decision.
