Avesh Khan Joins India’s Squad for 2nd Test against South Africa

Avesh has impressed with 149 wickets in 38 first-class games, averaging 22.65. The BCCI has added Avesh Khan to India’s squad for the second Test against South Africa, replacing the injured Mohammed Shami. Shami was initially selected for the tour but couldn’t prove his fitness in time for the series. As his injury persisted, Avesh was appointed as his replacement. Avesh also contributed to India’s triumph in the ODI series against South Africa. Avesh is currently playing with the India A side against South Africa A, where he delivered an impressive performance, taking 5 wickets for 54 runs in the first innings. His inclusion is a much-needed boost to India’s pace bowling unit after a lackluster performance in the Centurion Test. India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, expressed disappointment with the pacers’ performances in the first match and emphasized the importance of their support to Jasprit Bumrah.
