KKR announces star batter’s return as captain with Nitish Rana as deputy

Nitish Rana named vice-captain of KKR for upcoming IPL season

Venky Mysore, CEO of Kolkata Knight Riders, announces leadership for IPL 2024. Shreyas Iyer remains captain, with Nitish Rana as deputy.

Iyer missed IPL 2023 due to injury, leading to Rana’s stint as captain. KKR finished eighth. Iyer’s successful return to cricket included a role in India’s 2023 World Cup final.

Venky stated, “Unfortunate that Shreyas missed IPL 2023. Delighted he’s back as Captain. Nitish as Vice Captain will support Shreyas for the benefit of #TeamKKR.”

Gautam Gambhir returns to KKR as mentor. Former captain led team to victory in 2012 and 2014. Iyer commends Rana’s leadership in 2023, as Rana is named vice-captain for the upcoming season.

“Last season presented us with challenges, including my absence. Nitish did a great job filling in for me. I am delighted KKR has named him Vice Captain,” Iyer said.
