According to a report by Cricbuzz, Mumbai Indians (MI) may release star foreign players Jofra Archer and Cameron Green before the IPL Auction 2024 in order to generate extra funds for the return of Hardik Pandya to the team.
Due to limited funds in their salary purse, Mumbai Indians will need to release players to accommodate Pandya’s return. This means that Cameron Green and Jofra Archer, who were bought for 17.5 crores and 8 crores respectively, are likely to depart, allowing the franchise to generate an extra 5 crore INR.
Pandya’s fee is set at 15 crore INR, and MI will need to pay this amount to bring him back. Gujarat Titans, the previous team of Pandya, will receive an additional amount for releasing the star all-rounder, as well as 50% of the surplus amount.
The BCCI is not currently involved in the trade deals between the franchises, but official announcements are expected by Saturday evening or Sunday, which is the last day for the trade and release of players.
There have also been rumors circulating on the internet about the possible release of Rohit Sharma, the star player who led Mumbai to a record five-time IPL triumphs, from the franchise. However, nothing official has been confirmed yet.
