During the second T20I match between India and South Africa in Gqeberha earlier this month, South African spinner Tabraiz Shamsi faced backlash online for his unique celebration after dismissing Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav. Shamsi removed a boot and held it to his ear, which angered some Indian fans who targeted Shamsi and his wife on social media. Shamsi clarified that his celebration is never meant to be malicious and urged players to stand up against social media trolls. India and South Africa recently concluded a thrilling three-match T20I series, which ended in a 1-1 draw, followed by India’s victory in the subsequent ODI series with a 2-1 scoreline. Currently, both teams are engaged in an intense two-match Test series, but Shamsi is not included in the squad for the red-ball leg.
