Former South Africa captain Dean Elgar has announced his retirement from international cricket. His retirement will take effect after the two-Test series against India, beginning in Centurion on December 26. Elgar, who has played in 84 Tests and eight ODIs, has scored 5,146 runs with an average of 37.28, including 13 centuries and 23 fifties. He will end his career with the upcoming Test series against India. Elgar had a successful tenure as South Africa’s Test captain, winning nine out of 19 matches. He expressed gratitude for his 12 years in international cricket and announced that the Indian home series will be his last.
