The IPL auction took place in Dubai on December 19, and MS Dhoni was retained by CSK, as was the case with other players. Dhoni is one of the most influential figures in cricket history, having led India to World Cup victory in 2011 and captained Chennai Super Kings to five IPL titles. There is much speculation about what the future holds for him after cricket, and in a video released on social media, Dhoni expressed his interest in spending more time with the army. CSK head coach Stephen Fleming has also discussed succession plans for Dhoni, acknowledging the challenge of finding a suitable replacement for the legendary captain. With Dhoni’s future in the IPL uncertain, the 2024 season could be pivotal for CSK.
