During the 2023 World Cup final in Ahmedabad, Indian batsman Virat Kohli accidentally chopped the ball onto his stumps, leaving him stunned. The delivery from Australian captain Pat Cummins proved too difficult for Kohli to handle, resulting in him hitting the ball back onto his own stumps.
After the wicket, Kohli stood motionless, clearly in disbelief as he gazed at the pitch, fully aware of the impact it would have on the game. The Men in Blue had managed to score 80 runs during the powerplay, with captain Rohit Sharma’s outstanding start contributing significantly. However, India had already lost three wickets for 81 runs, and it was crucial for Kohli and KL Rahul to establish a solid partnership to avoid a potential batting collapse. Throughout their partnership, Kohli and Rahul opted for a cautious approach, patiently accumulating 67 runs in 109 balls for the fourth wicket. Kohli’s dismissal meant that Rahul would likely have to continue anchoring the innings.
