India clinched the ODI series against South Africa 2-1 with a 78-run victory in the third match. Sanju Samson’s impressive performance earned praise from former Indian star opener Gautam Gambhir. Gambhir believes that Samson’s maiden ODI century will benefit his international career. “He’s immensely talented and today’s century marks the beginning of his international journey,” Gambhir said on Star Sports. India, batting first, lost both openers early before Samson scored 108 off 114 balls to help set a total of 296 for eight. South Africa’s Beuran Hendricks was the pick of the bowlers with 3/63. Chasing 297, South Africa could not find strong support for opener Tony de Zorzi’s 81, and were bowled out for 218. India’s Arshdeep Singh, Washington Sundar, and Avesh Khan were the main wicket-takers.
