His father, Francis Xavier Minz, a retired Army veteran working as a security guard at Ranchi airport, was overjoyed when he received the news of Robin’s selection for a staggering sum of Rs 3.60 crore during the IPL 2024 auction. Francis and Robin share a deep passion for sports, particularly athletics, and cricket has been a significant part of Robin’s life in Ranchi.
Francis also revealed that Dhoni had promised to include Robin in his team if no one selected him during the auction. “I had met Dhoni at the airport recently. He told me Francisji koi nahi lega toh hum le lenge. (If no one picks him, we will),” he said.
