Fast bowler Mitchell Starc reveals future retirement intentions

Mitchell Starc rested for Australia’s final World Cup league match against Bangladesh.

Starc announces retirement plans before Australia vs South Africa semi-final clash. The Australian left-arm pacer will bid farewell to ODIs before retiring from Test cricket. He will not be part of the 2027 ODI World Cup and will quit the other two formats before walking away from red-ball cricket. “I’ve no vision for that. Four years is a long (time),” Starc said on Monday. He emphasized that Test cricket is his first priority and that the World Cup semifinal is just another one-day game for him. Starc had niggles since the Ashes and was rested for Australia’s last league match against Bangladesh. He trained with teammates during Monday’s optional session ahead of Thursday’s semifinal.
